About Darren
Labor Candidate for Marchant

Darren is a born and bred Northsider and has lived in Kedron for over 20 years and continues to do so with his 2 teenage sons.

He went to Nundah State Primary and Wavell State High Schools and has had links over the years with multiple community organisations including Chermside Redbacks Basketball, Kedron Lions AFL, Kedron Heights Kindy, St Anthony’s Primary School, Padua College, Grange Thistle Soccer and is currently an advocate for Bowel Cancer Australia.

His passion for the community is evident through spearheading a successful campaign to overturn Brisbane City Council firepit laws and his current fight to ensure Stafford Bowls Club remains a community asset and is returned to its former glory.

Darren’s work experience includes 21 years in the corporate world for Insurance Australia Group, where he has seen firsthand the impacts that natural disasters, flooding and poor government planning have had on the most vulnerable in our community. After Darren’s wife passed in 2021, he changed focus and moved to the public service.

Marchant hasn’t seen change in 16 years and Darren’s local knowledge, experience and relationships will ensure he brings a fresh change for the people of Marchant and is a strong local voice in City Hall.
